What are the common types of matting agents for paints & coatings?

In the past, pumice flour has been used to brush the dry paint film surface and the small scratches attained during this process created the fine, noble looking matted surface.

Nowadays, there is a wide range of ingredients such as silicas, waxes, organic materials and even fillers that are added to the paint, to form a micro-rough paints surface after the drying process.
